AM I A PLAYER OF THE SRI LANKAN TEAM?

The Word “team” is widely used in our lives and the corporate sector by us to achieve different tasks in our establishments. But do we really do team work? We think that by doing our part of the job fulfills the need of a team player. But, what I think is that, first as individual players we should understand clearly, what are the common goals that we need to achieve as a team.

Towards achieving the goals as individuals we need to know what we should do and also should have a broad understanding of the complete process. Completing a job on time and supporting the next team to take over the project is important.

The biggest challenge in the process is to properly communicate and coordinate with each other.

Also it is very important to identify the strengths and weaknesses of individuals and assign duties accordingly. A Leader should be able to take the responsibility of their team.

If we walk alone we might be able to go fast, but if we walk as a group we would be able to go a long way and achieve our own as well as goal in office as well.

As a nation we are all players of the Sri Lankan Team. Understanding and identifying our strengths, weaknesses, understanding our colleagues and friends, their culture and beliefs is important to coexist as a diverse society. It is over to you to decide “AM I A PLAYER OF THE SRI LANKAN TEAM?”

The Unsung heroes of the construction industry: Draughtsmen

Whenever a new skyscraper adds grace to the skyline, engineers and architects tends to hog all the credits, forgetting one professional without whose input no structure would stand the test of time, or stand at all; the draughtsman.

Draughtsman ensure that architectural ideas comes into reality by communicating the architects design into a format that gives the contractor clear and detailed instructions on what materials to use, and where.

Drafters’ drawings are important as they provide visual guidelines and show how to construct a product or structure. Their drawings include technical details and specify dimensions, materials and procedures, especially for the using drawings, rough sketches and specifications made by architects, engineers and surveyors, but they are rarely celebrated in the field.

Draughtsmen are actually engineering communication experts, hence without them no structure can be created, which explains why they are so vital in the construction and property industry.
